Originally from Hong Kong, Julia grew up surrounded by a melting pot of cultures, languages and diversity, which has largely influenced her teaching style. Julia began her teaching journey studying education at Hong Kong Education University while teaching English as an additional language. Julia then moved to London to finish her Bachelor’s degree in education while working as a teaching assistant. This time as a TA was invaluable to her as an educator as Julia experienced the pupils in every aspect of their day-to-day life at school, supporting their emotional and well-being needs. Julia was then selected to complete her Teach First qualification through the school and became a qualified teacher. For the last 4 years, Julia has worked at the school in London split evenly as a Year 1 and 2 teacher. Julia immensely enjoyed this time as a Pre-Prep teacher, as at this stage in the child’s learning journey, she believes cultivating a love for lifelong learning is essential.
In the classroom, Julia creates a warm and secure environment that is nurturing, engaging, and conducive to learning. Julia focuses on implementing the values of respect, pupils’ voice and celebrating individuality. Her goal is to not only educate but to inspire our pupils to be curious, independent thinkers.
