Claudia Breakwell

After graduating from the University of Edinburgh in 2017 with a BA in History and Sociology, Claudia moved to London to begin the Teach First teacher training programme, and in doing so fulfilled her lifelong ambition to be a primary school teacher! Claudia taught in a high-performing Academy in inner London. In recent years, Claudia has worked at King’s College London, supporting primary and secondary pupils to develop the skills needed to access the most highly selective universities in the UK.

Alongside her work, she has completed an MA in Education, Policy and Society and was awarded a distinction. In the classroom, Claudia creates a nurturing and stimulating environment by fostering really positive peer-to-peer and teacher to pupil relationships. By focussing on the emotional and social wellbeing of her pupils Claudia is able to put the children at the heart of the learning and ensure that her pupils are engaged and motivated in the classroom.

Claudia loves creating opportunities for pupils to explore the world around them, raise questions they are truly inspired to find answers to, and conduct research to further their knowledge. Most of all, she is passionate about inspiring pupils to develop a lifelong love of learning by creating a classroom culture in which every pupil feels empowered, inspired, and confident. Staying physically active and getting outdoors is really important to Claudia. In September she ran her 8th half-marathon, and she is looking forward to playing lots of tennis in the sunshine next year.

She is extremely excited to move to Singapore, to experience all the city has to offer (in particular all the delicious food she’s heard so much about), and to have the opportunity to travel throughout Asia. Having experienced the very dark winters in England, Scotland, and Denmark, she is especially looking forward to the year-long summer. Claudia is so thrilled to be taking her next step at Brighton College (Singapore) and cannot wait to get to know Brighton’s parents, pupils, and teachers in the New Year!
