Last week, our Y6โY9 pupils had the extraordinary opportunity to meet someone who has literally conquered the world โ two-times Guinness World Record Holder, Louis Alexander (@louisalexanderexplorer).
Over 633 days, Louis pushed his limits like no other: running marathons through Amazonian rainstorms, braving the burning deserts of Northern Africa, and battling the freezing winds of Antarctica. He didnโt stop there โ he swam marathon distances across all Seven Seas, including under the blistering sun of the Arabian Sea.
Through grit, resilience, and purpose, Louis not only achieved the impossible but also raised over ยฃ50,000 for charity, inspiring thousands across the globe, from 10 Downing Street to Eton College.
Through his sharing, he brought those incredible lessons right here to our school, reminding our pupils that when you set your mind to something, there are no limits to what you can achieve.

Our Year 6 pupils set off for Tioman with backpacks full of excitement and came home with stories theyโll never forget. Over just a few days, they faced challenges, explored new environments, and made memories that will last a lifetime.
The island welcomed them with sunshine and turquoise watersโand it wasnโt long before everyone was donning snorkels and flippers to dive into the crystal-clear sea. One lucky group even spotted a turtle gliding gracefully through the coral reef, sparking a chorus of underwater squeals and waves. The boat ride back was anything but calmโa friendly (and very splashy) race between boats added an unexpected thrill.
The survival skills sessions brought out the inner explorers in everyone. Pupils gathered sticks to build fires (ideal for toasting marshmallows, of course), learned how to filter water, and tried their hand at constructing shelters. And to end the trip, a glowing bonfire brought everyone together for stories, songs, and one last toast to an incredible few days.
From sea turtles to singalongs, Year 6`s adventure in Tioman was more than just a tripโit was a celebration of friendship, resilience, and the joy of learning beyond the classroom.
The last day of school term saw our Finale performance of `Jack and the Beanstalk - The Rap` by our Year 3 and Year 4 pupils who put up separate shows with a modern take on a classic tale. Watching the Brighton College (Singapore) community come together in the lead-up to our latest production was nothing short of inspiring. Hallways buzzed with creativity, rehearsals echoed with laughter and determination, and every corner of the school felt alive with purpose.
At the heart of it all were our pupils, embodying the BCS values of Kindness, Curiosity, and Confidence with every line they learned, every step they rehearsed, and every challenge they embraced. The pupils also loved choosing their colourful 1980s hip-hop outfits.
Of course, no production comes together without a brilliant team. A huge thank you goes out to our incredible parent volunteers whose time and talent helped shape the set into something magical; to our ever-passionate Performing Arts team; to Mrs. Snell, Mrs. Shea, Mrs. Stratford, Miss Mills, and Mr. Stratford for their guidance and tireless energyโand to every pupil who poured their heart into making this performance come alive. A wonderful way to end the term!

Our Year 5 pupils returned from their residential trip to Batam with muddy shoes, and a treasure trove of memories. The week was a whirlwind of adventure, laughter, and learning as the children stepped away from classroom walls and into the great outdoors.
Each day brought a new challenge and opportunity to build resilience, teamwork, and independence. Mornings kicked off with team-building games designed to strengthen communication and leadershipโthink rope challenges, group problem-solving tasks, and obstacle courses that had everyone cheering each other on.
Afternoons were packed with outdoor adventures: trekking through the lush rainforest, learning about the local ecosystem, and testing their balance on high ropes and climbing walls. At the beach, pupils played games, built epic sandcastles, and took part in thrilling water activities, including kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding.
A standout moment was the sailing session, where pupils took to the open waters with great excitement. Some glided effortlessly; others discovered just how easy it is to capsizeโMr Handley included, whose dramatic topple earned cheers and laughter all around!
This residential wasnโt just a tripโit was a journey of growth. Our Year 5`s returned home with new friendships, stronger bonds, and stories theyโll be telling for years to come.
