The Perfect Start

At Brighton College (Singapore), we tailor each child’s learning journey through an engaging, child-centred curriculum. Our play-based learning approach in the Early Years nurtures confidence and creativity, by following children’s lead – if a child is fascinated by the ocean, that becomes a starting point for literacy, science, and art. Discover how our early years curriculum supports every stage of development. For example, hands-on water play exploring marine life fosters sensory exploration, curiosity, and deeper connections to the world around them.

Our state-of-the-art facilities feature bright classrooms, sensory spaces, and a dedicated Makerspace for creative projects. In Year 2, pupils designed and built a spaceship inspired by the story Beegu, integrating literacy, science, and art. These dynamic projects encourage collaboration and problem-solving, ensuring children thrive academically and socially.

Our Teachers

Our small class sizes naturally allow each child to receive personalised attention from both teachers and teaching assistants. Specialist teaching starts with our youngest children in Pre-Nursery and Nursery, and as pupils progress through the school, they benefit from an increasing number of specialist lessons. These include Mandarin, music, PE, art, swimming, dance, and drama. We believe in fostering a strong home-school partnership and maintaining an ‘open door’ policy for all parents.

Pupil Wellbeing

Pupil wellbeing care is at the heart of everything we do. All staff contribute to this nurturing environment, guided by the Assistant Head (Pastoral). Positive behaviours are cultivated through our Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) and the Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) curriculums, through our assembly themes and through the Pelican Pathway, built on values like Perseverance, Enthusiasm, Leadership, Improvement, Creativity, Achievement and Knowledge.

Our School Day

EYFS and Lower Prep pupils arrive from 8.25am, beginning mornings filled with learning through play. As a British preschool in Singapore, activities like swimming, PE, dance, drama, art, Mandarin, cooking and music create a vibrant mix of experiences.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum is planned on a weekly basis by EYFS specialists and adapts to each child’s needs. We also offer a range of optional co-curricular activities beyond the classroom that are perfect for little ones who are eager to continue exploring and learning. For families with younger children, our Pufflings toddler playgroup is a wonderful first step. Book a tour to see our Early Learning Village and experience our vibrant community in person.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ages does the Early Years programme cover?

Our Early Years programme welcomes children from 18 months (Pre-Nursery) through to Reception (age 5). The programme follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum of England in the younger years and transitions to the enhanced English National Curriculum from Year 1.

What curriculum does Brighton College (Singapore) follow for early years?

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum of England for children from Pre-Nursery to Reception. From Year 1, pupils transition to our enhanced English National Curriculum. This British curriculum approach builds a strong foundation in literacy, numeracy, and social development.

What are the class sizes in the EYFS and Lower Prep?

EYFS and Lower Prep classes are kept deliberately small to allow each child personalised attention from both teachers and teaching assistants. Specialist teaching begins from Pre-Nursery, with subjects including PE, music, Mandarin, and Library.

What is the nursery programme at Brighton College (Singapore)?

Our nursery programme is for children aged 3 to 4. Your child follows the EYFS curriculum through a play-based approach, learning through activities designed to build curiosity, early literacy, social skills, and physical coordination. From the start, they work with specialist teachers in Mandarin, music, and PE rather than covering every subject with one class teacher.

What is Pufflings?

Pufflings is our free parent and toddler playgroup for children aged 12 months to 3.5 years. Sessions run every Wednesday during term time at our Early Learning Village. It is a wonderful way for families to experience our school and meet our teachers with no obligation.

How can I visit Brighton College (Singapore)?

We welcome families to visit through our weekly open mornings, personal tours, or open house events. You can book a tour through our admissions page or contact us to arrange a visit at a time that suits your family.
