Step 4 - The Assessment Process

Our assessment processes have been put in place to ensure that Brighton College (Singapore) is the best school for each child we enrol and that it will be a place where they will be happy and thrive.

When we have your completed application, we will work with you to arrange a suitable time for your child’s assessment. This may be on campus in Singapore or can also be carried out remotely, depending on each family’s circumstances.

  • The parents of children applying for Pre-Nursery will be invited to join us, with their child, for a 1:1 meeting with one of Senior Leadership team. This meeting will last approximately 30 minutes and allows our team to understand your child’s readiness for school, their level of comfort being in a new environment, and their ability to engage with others.
  • Nursery and Reception children will be invited to join either an individual or group observation (with a small number of other similar-age children) with one of our Early Years specialists.  The session will last around 20 minutes and will be an enjoyable and fun experience for your little one as they get to explore and experiment in one of our classrooms. The aim of this play-time is to allow our team to gain an understanding of your child’s ability to engage with others, their fine-motor skills, their physical skills, and finally their reading and phonics awareness.
  • Children applying for Year 1 to Year 5 will be invited to come and spend a little longer with us as they take part in a more formal assessment that allows us to understand their abilities and their academic potential. The children will spend time meeting with one of our teaching team who will work with them as they complete examples of the sorts of activities and tasks that they might experience in class at the College, with a focus on Maths, English, and their engagement with others.

In addition to the above, the information provided in your application (e.g. school reports, Child Development Form, and the Student Reference Form) will also help us to get to know your child holistically.

Step 5 - Receiving An Offer

Following your child’s assessment, our Academic Leadership Team will review your application and families will usually be notified of the outcome within 72 hours.

Successful applicants will be sent an official offer letter.

Written email acceptance of the offer, along with a completed Student Contract and payment of the Enrolment Fee within 14 calendar days will confirm your child’s place.

Should a place in the relevant year level not be currently available, our Admissions Team will support you in joining our waitlist.

The decision not to offer a place at the school will be reviewed by the Head Master, following which applicants who have not been successful will be informed in writing. The school’s decision on this will be considered final. Applicants who have not been successful may apply to the College again after a full ten months have passed.

Step 6 - Confirming Your Acceptance

Once you have formally accepted the place of an offer, completed the Student Contract and paid the Enrolment Fee, the following information will be required before the first day of school:

  1. – Copy of your Child’s Immigration Status (i.e. Dependent Pass / Permanent Resident Re-Entry Permit / Immigration Exemption Order).
  2. – A completed Health Declaration Form
  3. – Copy of your Child’s immunisation record*

Our Admissions Team will support you in providing the above to you.

* Foreign-born children aged 12 years old and below, who are applying for the Dependent’s Pass (DP) or Long Term Visit Pass (LTVP) issued by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), and the Student’s Pass (STP) issued by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), are required to submit documented proof of vaccination or evidence of immunity to the Health Promotion Board (HPB) for verification. They will have to do so before they proceed with their applications to MOM or ICA for long-term stay in Singapore. Please note that this process can take in excess of one (1) month.  Existing pass holders will not be subject to the requirements when renewing their pass or applying for a new pass.

Student Passes accepted

Brighton College (Singapore) is pleased to accept applications from families who will require a student pass for their child (i.e. those children who will not reside in Singapore on a Dependent’s Pass or who are not Permanent Residents).

Parents of children who require a Student Pass may contact our Admissions Team for further information and support.
