Matthew Hughes joins us at Brighton College (Singapore) with over 15 years of experience in education, having held a range of teaching and leadership roles across the United Kingdom, China, Guernsey and the United Arab Emirates.

Matthew’s educational philosophy is centred on helping every child grow in confidence, curiosity and character. He is passionate about creating an environment where pupils feel supported, challenged and inspired to achieve their very best, while nurturing a lifelong love of learning.

Born and raised in the United Kingdom, Matthew has built an international career leading schools and driving improvements in curriculum development, teaching and learning. Most recently, he served as Head of School within GEMS Education, where he led school improvement initiatives and oversaw teaching and learning across a large primary setting.

As Deputy Head of Prep at Brighton College (Singapore), Matthew is excited to contribute to the College’s strong tradition of academic excellence, kindness and holistic education. He looks forward to working closely with pupils, staff and families to build on the College’s success and create an enriching environment where every child can flourish: “I am delighted to be joining Brighton College (Singapore) and look forward to becoming part of this wonderful community.
